Google to End Stadia Controller Bluetooth Tool Soon

Time is running out to enable Bluetooth connectivity on your Google Stadia Controller. Following the shutdown of Google Stadia’s gaming service in January 2023, Google released a conversion utility to allow these controllers to work wirelessly via Bluetooth.

However, the company has announced that this tool will be discontinued on December 31, 2024, leaving unconverted controllers stuck in wired mode.

The Stadia Controller was initially designed to operate over Wi-Fi or with a cable, but after Stadia’s closure, Google introduced the Bluetooth option to extend the device’s usability.

This update disabled its Wi-Fi capability, but it made the controller compatible with other devices, providing a lifeline for gamers.

While third-party solutions like the “StadiaController” tool on GitHub exist, these tools use WebUSB rather than directly flashing firmware. It remains uncertain whether such alternatives will remain functional once Google officially withdraws its utility.

This makes it crucial for anyone with a Stadia Controller to act promptly and convert to Bluetooth before the year’s end.

Don’t wait until it’s too late—update your Stadia Controller to ensure it remains useful in 2025 and beyond.
