Google has completed the rollout of the Pixel Camera 9.6 update, which began in mid-October. The update is now widely available through the Google Play Store, following its gradual release.

Before this, some users were still using earlier versions, 9.4 and 9.5. However, last week, Google began pushing a patch (version 9.6.080.695519101.19) for those who were still on these older versions.

The new version of the Pixel Camera brings several improvements. For Pixel 6 to 8a users, a new 5-second timer has been added, joining the existing 3 and 10-second options.

Additionally, accessing Astrophotography mode has been made easier. Now, users can simply tap the bottom-right corner of the Night Sight tab and slide to Astro mode.

For Pixel 9 series users, a new feature called “Underwater photography and video” has been added. This can be found in the Advanced Settings and works with any waterproof case, helping to restore true colors when capturing photos or videos underwater.

The camera will display a notification at the top of the viewfinder when the underwater mode is active. However, this feature is not available on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Finally, the Panorama mode has received a significant update. Previously limited to horizontal capture, users can now take panorama photos while holding their device vertically.

This change makes it easier to capture wider shots in a more natural orientation.

With these updates, Google Pixel owners now have access to improved features that enhance their photography and video experience. The Pixel Camera 9.6 update is now available to all eligible devices.
