Google Pixel 10 Set to Battle iPhone 17 with Flagship Cameras and New Features

The Google Pixel 10 series is set to launch on August 20, 2025, with preorders starting the same day. Shipping is expected to begin around August 28. Google is expanding its lineup this year with four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The design will remain familiar to Pixel fans. The phones will keep the flat edges and horizontal camera bar from the Pixel 9 series, but Google is making small changes like moving the SIM tray to the top edge. New colors are coming too, including Ultra Blue, Limoncello, Iris, and Smoky Green.

One of the biggest upgrades is in the camera system. For the first time, even the base Pixel 10 will have a telephoto lens, something previously saved for the Pro versions. The main camera will feature a 50MP Samsung GN8 sensor, with a 13MP ultrawide lens and a 10.8MP telephoto lens.

The Pixel 10 series will introduce a tele-macro photography mode, giving users better close-up shots using the telephoto lens. The ultrawide camera will still offer autofocus and macro features, meaning users will have two ways to take detailed close-up photos.

Video recording is also getting a major upgrade with new image stabilization, described as gimbal-like, helping users shoot smoother videos without external stabilizers.

Powering the Pixel 10 will be Google’s new Tensor G5 chipset, built by TSMC for better performance and battery life. However, the Samsung Exynos 5400 modem is expected to stay the same as in the Pixel 9 series. The phones will come with Android 16 and a new Material 3 Expressive UI, along with AI-powered photo editing and other smart software features.

Google is also introducing Qi 2.2 wireless charging with built-in magnets, a system similar to Apple’s MagSafe. These magnets will support Pixelsnap accessories like magnetic chargers and stands. Another new feature is Hub Mode, allowing Pixel phones to work as smart displays while charging, much like Apple’s Standby mode.

Prices are not confirmed yet, but the base Pixel 10 model is expected to start around $799 in the US, with higher prices for the Pro models and the foldable version.

With these upgrades in cameras, design, and wireless charging, the Pixel 10 series is set to go head-to-head with Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup later this year.
