Google Launches AI App That Works Without Wi-Fi

Google has quietly released a new app called AI Edge Gallery that lets users run AI models without needing Wi-Fi or mobile data.

The experimental app, now available for Android devices, allows users to download and run AI models locally, including some from Hugging Face and Google’s own Gemma 3n. Once installed, these models can generate images, answer questions, write code, and chat — all offline.

“The power of cutting-edge Generative AI models directly in your hands,” says Google on the app’s GitHub page.

Because the models run on-device, responses are faster and more private. There’s no need to send data to the cloud, making it a great option for privacy-conscious users or anyone without constant internet access.

Currently, the app isn’t available on the Play Store. Instead, users can download the APK from GitHub following Google’s official guide. An iOS version is also in the works.
