Google Discover Material 3 Redesign

Google Discover has introduced a Material 3 redesign, now rolling out to both stable and beta users of the Google app (version 15.49+).

The new design places each feed item into distinct cards with taller images and simplified menus.

Key Changes in the Redesign

  • Card-Based Layout: Articles and ads are now displayed in individual cards, separated from the edge of the screen.
  • Taller Images: Cover images are larger, enhancing visual appeal.
  • Simplified Menu: A single three-dot button replaces multiple buttons, consolidating “Save” and “Share” options.
  • Topic Cards: New card types highlight topics at the top with a “+” button for quick following.

Feedback and Availability

The redesign is live for users on stable and beta channels. While some appreciate the Material 3 compliance, others find the interface cluttered. Testing began in October 2024, and the update is now widely available.

For more updates on Google app features, stay tuned.
