Netflix has dropped the full trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2”, confirming the highly anticipated comedy sequel will premiere on July 25, 2025.
Adam Sandler returns as Happy, the former hockey player turned golfing underdog, now making a comeback on the green with an all-star mix of familiar faces and surprising newcomers.
The trailer, released during Netflix’s Tudum 2025 event, brings back fan-favorites Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller, and introduces Bad Bunny as Happy’s new caddy, in one of the most unexpected casting choices.
Sandler’s on-screen children, played by his real-life daughters Sadie and Sunny, also appear in the film and joked on stage, “Is there actually anyone under 60 in this movie?”
Directed by Kyle Newacheck (of Murder Mystery fame) and co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, the sequel welcomes more star power: Travis Kelce, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, and Jon Lovitz all make appearances. Cameos from pro golfers like Rory McIlroy, John Daly, Bryson DeChambeau, and Scottie Scheffler bring authentic sports energy to the comedy chaos.
The original Happy Gilmore, released in 1996, became a cult sports comedy hit. Dennis Dugan, who directed the first film, returns as an executive producer for this long-awaited sequel.
The trailer sets the tone for a chaotic and heartfelt sports comedy as Happy must confront new PGA challengers, chaotic caddies, and maybe even fatherhood. As Sandler’s Happy says in the teaser, “It’s not about winning anymore—it’s about proving I can still swing.”
“Happy Gilmore 2” hits Netflix globally on July 25.
