Gen Z Moves Away from Dating Apps, Ofcom Reports

Gen Z

Ofcom’s latest report reveals that popular dating apps like Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, and Grindr have seen a drop in use, particularly among Gen Z.

Tinder lost 600,000 users, while Hinge, Bumble, and Grindr also experienced declines. Despite nearly 5 million adults using dating services in May, the report suggests that younger people are increasingly opting for real-life connections.

Luke Brunning from the University of Leeds noted a growing preference for in-person meetings, with many users seeking more authentic, low-pressure ways to connect.

Match Group, which owns Tinder, acknowledged the shift and plans to tailor its app experience for younger users.
