Google’s Gemini app is rolling out a new feature that allows users to make calls and send messages without unlocking their devices.
This update introduces a new setting in Gemini Settings under “Gemini on Lock Screen,” where users can activate the “Make calls and send message without unlocking” option.
To use this feature, users must enable their calling and messaging apps within the Gemini settings.
While Google began rolling out Gemini Extensions for “Phone” and “Messages” in October, the new feature does not require them to function. Instead, it uses Google Assistant as a fallback when Gemini Extensions are not available.
This update allows for smoother functionality, as users can place calls or send messages instantly while the phone remains locked.
Although the feature is not yet widely available, it is being rolled out to users with Google app version 15.48 beta. The feature may require a manual update or a force stop of the Google app for access.
With this addition, Gemini is becoming a more powerful assistant, enabling users to complete tasks quickly without unlocking their devices, improving convenience and productivity.
