Google is adding its Gemini AI to the Google Docs app on Android. Until now, Gemini was only available in Gmail on mobile. Now, Android users can use Gemini to help with their documents.
When you open a document in the Google Docs app, you will see a new Gemini icon next to the three-dot menu at the top.
Tapping this icon opens a panel at the bottom of the screen. This panel lets you type prompts and ask Gemini for help with your document.
With Gemini, you can:
- Summarize the document
- Outline the main points
- Suggest ways to improve the writing
- Ask questions about the document’s content
These features are helpful for reading long reports, preparing for meetings, or starting new drafts after team discussions.
For now, features like “Help me write,” “Help me create,” and image generation are not available on mobile. Google plans to expand Gemini’s features later.
Gemini in Google Docs for Android will roll out over the next few weeks. It will be available for Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and users with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium plans.
This update makes it easier for people to work on documents wherever they are, using the power of AI.
