Samsung is set to introduce larger screens in its 2025 foldables, with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 expected to feature significant display upgrades.
According to display industry consultant Ross Young, the Z Fold7 will inherit the Galaxy Fold Special Edition’s panels, offering an 8-inch foldable screen and a 6.5-inch cover display.
Meanwhile, the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip7 will also see a boost in screen size, with a 6.85-inch foldable (up from 6.7 inches) and a larger 4-inch cover display (up from 3.4 inches).
This move follows slower-than-expected sales for the Galaxy Z Flip6 in Q3 2024, particularly in the US and China. While the Flip has been well-received in Europe and Korea, its performance elsewhere has been weaker, with panel shipments down by 10% compared to last year.
This trend is not unique to Samsung, as Huawei also scaled back foldable panel orders in the same period, preparing for a later launch of its Mate X6.
Despite these challenges, the foldable panel market is expected to rebound by 2026, driven by the anticipated launch of Apple’s first foldable smartphone.
Analysts predict that Apple’s entry into the market will spur significant growth, making 2026 a record-breaking year for foldable.
