Epic Games has released Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 update 39.20, introducing the highly anticipated South Park collaboration, new weapons, consumables, map changes, and a special Born in Chaos Mini Pass.
Update 39.20 Downtime and Release
The update went live on January 9, 2026, after a 1–2 hour downtime at 4 AM ET. Servers are now fully operational, allowing players to jump into the new content.
South Park Collaboration: Skins and Items
The highlight of the update is the South Park crossover, featuring iconic characters in Fortnite style through the Gonna Have Myself a Time Bundle:
- Eric Cartman
- Stan Marsh
- Kyle Broflovski
- Kenny McCormick
- Butters Stotch
The characters appear in mech suits to fit Fortnite’s gameplay design.
Born in Chaos Mini Pass
A free Mini Pass allows players to unlock 13 South Park-themed rewards without spending V-Bucks, including:
- Imaginationland Airship Glider
- Cheesy Poofs Rocketship Emote
- Level Up Tokens
Players earn Cred, a new currency, by completing South Park quests to progress through the Mini Pass.
Map Changes: Cartmanland POI
The update introduces the Cartmanland Point of Interest, replacing Wonkeeland in the north-west of the map. Features include:
- Functional amusement park rides
- Snow restricted to the Cartmanland area, ending Winterfest 2025
New Battle Bus and Mythic Items
- South Park Battle Bus: Butters’ school bus design, available until February 5, 2026
- Stick of Truth Mythic: Allows players to control the storm in the final circle
- Kenny’s Respawn Token: Automatically revives players after elimination, replacing Self-Revive
- Cheesy Poofs Consumable: Heal while sprinting, available in unranked mode
New Weapons and Items
- Flex SMG: Two firing modes; powerful when aiming down sights, fast fire when hipfiring
- Stealth Splash: Grants a cloaking effect to all players in the splash zone
Quints: 5-Player Battle Royale Mode
A new limited-time 5-player BR mode, Quints, is available until February 5, 2026. Its popularity may determine a permanent return.
Battle Pass and OG Super Styles
Update 39.20 unlocks Bonus Pages in the Chapter 7 Battle Pass, allowing players to access Super Styles for skins like Kingston and Dark Voyager. OG Season 7 Pass skins also receive remixed looks.

New Week 6 and Week 7 quests include:

- Scouting shooting locations for Kingston
