A 20-year-old Florida woman, Esther Torres, has been sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to a series of robberies targeting men at upscale hotels in Miami Beach.
Torres admitted to luring male victims to hotels, including the Breakwater and Fontainebleau, where she pepper-sprayed them and stole luxury items such as a Rolex Submariner valued at $22,000, a Hugo Boss watch, as well as cash and credit cards. The attacks left victims temporarily blinded and disoriented.
Surveillance footage from the hotel hallways and exits helped police identify Torres, leading to her arrest in May 2025. She was initially charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, but later accepted a plea agreement that included charges of armed robbery, burglary, and third-degree grand theft.
Before her sentencing, Torres had been held without bond but was later released on a recognizance bond. She is no longer in custody following the probation ruling.
While the probation sentence has sparked criticism from some in the community, law enforcement and victims described Torres as a “predator preying on men,” emphasizing the calculated nature of the crimes.
The case has highlighted concerns about personal safety in popular tourist areas and the targeting of high-value victims through deception and violence.
