Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle, the SU7, has exceeded expectations in China, with order numbers significantly higher than anticipated.

This success has prompted the company to increase its production target for 2024 from 100,000 to 130,000 units.

Now, attention turns to Xiaomi’s second electric vehicle, which is set to be an SUV, codenamed MX11.

The MX11 is expected to arrive in February or March 2025, with reports confirming that it will share a platform and components with the SU7.

However, the MX11 will have its own distinctive design, featuring “smooth side lines.” Positioned as a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model Y, the SUV is set to take on the electric vehicle market’s growing demand for family-friendly, high-performance cars.

Xiaomi is working on expanding its EV production capabilities, with the second phase of its factory in Beijing set to open by mid-2025.

Once fully operational, the factory will have a production capacity of 300,000 cars per year.
