FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has expressed profound shock at discoveries made during his tenure, stating in a cryptic social media post that he will “never be the same” after what he has learned.
In a message shared on X, Bongino vowed to bring the American people “the truth” about ongoing investigations into public corruption and the political weaponization of law enforcement and intelligence operations, describing the findings as “darker and deeper than anyone imagined.”
Bongino, who assumed the role of deputy director in March 2025, did not provide specific details about the investigations or the nature of the revelations. His statement emphasized a commitment to transparency and reform, alongside FBI Director Kash Patel, to restore integrity to the agency. The post has sparked widespread speculation, with some on X calling the findings evidence of systemic corruption that threatens the Republic.
Earlier this year, Bongino announced the reexamination of three high-profile cases: the 2021 D.C. pipe bombings, cocaine found in the White House in 2023, and the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision. He stated that these investigations have been prioritized to address public corruption concerns, with weekly updates requested to ensure progress.
The deputy director’s comments come amid recent tensions within the FBI and Justice Department, particularly following a controversial decision not to release additional records related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Bongino reportedly clashed with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the handling of the Epstein files, leading to speculation about his potential resignation in July 2025. However, he returned to work and remains in his position, with President Trump expressing support for him.
Bongino’s background as a former Secret Service agent and conservative commentator has drawn scrutiny, with critics questioning his lack of FBI experience and past promotion of conspiracy theories. Despite this, he has pledged to eliminate political bias and uphold the FBI’s core mission of protecting the United States.
