Fans are voicing their frustration over the steep prices of tickets for Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour, with many expressing their disbelief on social media.
The cheapest ticket for their upcoming show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, was listed at $151 before service fees, pushing the final price to $188. However, resellers quickly inflated prices, with some tickets going for as much as $259 before fees.
The price hike has drawn sharp criticism from fans, with some calling it a barrier to experiencing live music.
One TikTok user expressed her disappointment, saying that “nosebleed” tickets should never exceed $100, and another shared a video of herself in tears over the high costs.
This isn’t an isolated issue. Fans of other artists, like Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, and My Chemical Romance, have voiced similar complaints about ticket prices at MetLife Stadium.
Ticketmasterโs pricing practices, including rapidly changing ticket prices and the influence of resellers, have fueled anger among concertgoers. Some fans also accuse Ticketmaster of allowing bots to scoop up tickets, only for them to be resold at inflated prices.
Ticketmasterโs handling of ticket sales has drawn the attention of the U.S. Department of Justice, which filed an antitrust lawsuit against the company in May, accusing it of monopolistic practices that harm fans, artists, and venues.
