Former Android executives, including Hugo Barra, are behind /dev/agents, a new startup developing an AI-focused operating system.
The platform aims to simplify creating autonomous digital assistants that work seamlessly across devices.
CEO David Singleton, also a former Android VP at Google, said the project is about creating an “Android-like moment for AI,” addressing the challenges developers face in building advanced AI tools.
The OS will offer a new privacy model, UI design, and tools to streamline agent development.
Other key team members include early Android engineer Ficus Kirkpatrick as CTO and ChromeOS designer Nicholas Jitkoff as Chief Design Officer.
Big players like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI are also exploring AI agents, but /dev/agents aims to give developers a simpler, more unified platform to create these tools.
