The Epic Games Store has released its Year in Review, showcasing major growth in 2024 and revealing exciting plans for 2025.
Despite facing competition from Steam, Epic’s platform saw a significant increase in users, playtime, and spending.
Epic Games Store’s 2024 Performance
The Epic Games Store now boasts 295 million PC users, marking an increase of 25 million from 2023. Across platforms, 898 million Epic accounts were recorded, reflecting a growth of 94 million users.
Player engagement also surged, with a total of 2.68 billion hours spent on third-party games. Thanks to the introduction of Self-Publishing Tools, the store’s catalog expanded by 1,100 new games, giving players access to more titles than ever before.
The Free Games Program remained a huge draw, with 89 free games offered in 2024. Users claimed 595 million free games, totaling a combined value of $2,229 per player. The average critic score for free games stood at 76%, making it a solid mix of AAA hits and indie gems.
Financially, $1.09 billion was spent by PC gamers on the Epic Games Store, with $255 million going toward third-party games.
What’s Coming in 2025?
Looking ahead, Epic is focusing on mobile expansion. The Epic Games Store Mobile App will introduce an enhanced App Library and Discovery Experience, giving users a better way to find and manage games.
For developers, the store will add support for AAB file types and mobile self-publishing tools, which are currently in an invite-only beta.
On the gaming front, big titles are coming to the platform, including Splitgate 2, 33 Immortals, Killing Floor 3, Borderlands 4, and Cronos: The New Dawn.
With strong user growth, continued free games, and mobile expansion, Epic Games Store is set for another big year in 2025.
