Errol Musk, the father of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren over more than 30 years, according to a New York Times investigation published this week.
The report cites police and court records, social worker documents, personal correspondence, and interviews with family members. Allegations include inappropriate touching of young children, with the earliest claim dating back to 1993, when a 4-year-old stepdaughter said Errol touched her at a family home. About a decade later, the same stepdaughter alleged she caught him sniffing her underwear.
As recently as 2023, a family member and social worker reportedly tried to intervene after Errol’s then-5-year-old son said his father had groped him. The Times also reports accusations involving two daughters and a stepson.
Despite three separate police investigations over the years, Errol Musk has not been convicted of any crimes. Two of the cases were closed, and the outcome of the third remains unclear.
The investigation says several relatives contacted Elon Musk for help over the years. A 2010 letter obtained by the Times allegedly pleaded, “We really need your advice, help and guidance in these matters because we daily see these children suffer.” Elon, who is estranged from his father, reportedly gave some financial support but has not commented publicly on the accusations.
Errol Musk, who has nine children and stepchildren and has been married three times, denied all allegations. He called the claims “false and nonsense in the extreme” and said he is aware of only one abuse allegation.
