Elder Scrolls 6 Trailer Breaks Skyrim Milestone

The Elder Scrolls 6 trailer has just reached an unexpected milestone, now as old as Skyrim was when Bethesda first announced the highly anticipated sequel.

The trailer, which debuted at Bethesda’s 2018 E3 press conference, is now officially 2403 days old as of January 7, 2025.

This marks the same amount of time that passed between Skyrim‘s release in 2011 and the announcement of Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018.

A Long Wait for Fans

Fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on Elder Scrolls 6, but Bethesda has remained tight-lipped about the game’s release.

The studio’s recent titles, like Fallout 4 and Starfield, had much shorter waits between announcement and release. Fallout 4, for instance, was released just months after its reveal in 2015.

In contrast, Elder Scrolls 6 is on track to have the longest gap between announcement and release in Bethesda’s history.

Development Still in Early Stages

Despite the long wait, Elder Scrolls 6 is still in the early stages of development. As of 2022, the game was still in pre-production, with full development only beginning after Starfield‘s release in September 2023.

Bethesda has made it clear that Starfield remains the priority for the studio, with Elder Scrolls 6 expected to launch a few years after.

Given the scale of Bethesda’s RPGs, a release date for Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away, with a potential launch not expected before 2029.
