EA Sports has revealed five new PlayStyle+ abilities for its upcoming football game EA Sports FC 26, set to launch on September 26. These additions are designed to enhance gameplay and replace several older mechanics, according to details shared in a recent official Gameplay Deep Dive.
The new PlayStyles are:
Aerial Fortress – Focuses on defensive aerial duels, offering higher jumps and stronger physical presence during defensive headers. It replaces the old Aerial PlayStyle with a more specific defensive role.
Precision Header – Targets offensive headers with greater accuracy and control, refining the Power Header mechanic for more precise finishes.
GameChanger – Combines shooting elements from the Flair and Trivela PlayStyles, allowing powerful and stylish shots with added accuracy.
Inventive – Blends the passing features of Flair and Trivela, making fancy and curved passes more accurate and effective.
Enforcer – Gives physical strikers better ball shielding and dribbling control, especially in physical battles.
These new abilities will replace four older PlayStyles — Flair, Trivela, Aerial, and Power Header — which are being removed from the game.
Alongside the updated PlayStyle system, EA Sports is introducing broader gameplay changes. These include improved dribbling, movement, shooting mechanics, and more effective tackles that help players maintain possession. Goalkeeper behavior has also been adjusted for better performance and realism.
EA Sports FC 26 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
