Did Jeffrey Epstein Fake His Death? The Fortnite Account Claim Explained

A conspiracy theory suggesting Jeffrey Epstein might still be alive has spread widely on social media, linking the financier to a Fortnite account under the username “littlestjeff1.” The claim combines a YouTube receipt from the recently released Epstein files and apparent post-death activity on the gaming account.

The theory began circulating around February 5–6, 2026, as new documents from the Epstein Files Transparency Act were shared. The files include a May 7, 2019, Fortnite V-Bucks purchase for $25.95 tied to the email and YouTube username “littlestjeff1,” which some online users linked to Epstein.

Fans and theorists then searched for the username on third-party tracking sites like Fortnite Tracker, claiming the account showed activity after Epstein’s death in August 2019, including gameplay in 2023–2025. Some also noted an Israeli flag on the profile, leading to further speculation about his location. The account went private shortly after the theory went viral.

Experts and fact-checkers caution that the claims do not prove Epstein survived. The username is generic and could belong to anyone. The May 2019 purchase occurred before Epstein’s death, and no documents link him to post-2019 gaming activity. Reported flags or ranks in Fortnite may reflect another user or simply cosmetic settings.

Official investigations by the NYC medical examiner, FBI, and DOJ Office of Inspector General concluded that Epstein died by suicide in 2019. Fact-checks by outlets including IBTimes UK and Hindustan Times label the Fortnite theory as unsubstantiated speculation amplified by viral attention. Epic Games has not commented, citing privacy rules.

This episode fits a pattern seen with the Epstein files, where real documents spark misinformation online. Experts urge the public to verify claims against primary sources, such as the DOJ’s Epstein portal, rather than relying on social media posts or coincidental username matches.

The relevant receipts and references are publicly available in the DOJ’s Epstein library:

While the theory has generated millions of views online, no credible evidence currently supports claims that Epstein survived or used Fortnite after his death.
