Cyberpunk 2077 continues to thrive, hitting between 60,000 and 70,000 concurrent players nightly on Steam, four years after its launch.

This impressive figure for a single-player game with no live service model highlights the game’s remarkable turnaround since its troubled debut.

CD Projekt Red (CDPR) credits the recent surge to Update 2.2, which introduced new features like enhanced photo modes and increased customization options.

Since November 2024, the game’s player base has grown nearly 50%, with consistent increases year after year:

  • 2021: 15-20,000 players
  • 2022: 18-25,000 players
  • 2023: 30-35,000 players, spiking to 274,000 during the Phantom Liberty expansion
  • 2024: 40-50,000 players
  • 2025: 60-70,000 players

These numbers are even more impressive when compared to other popular games. Elden Ring, released two years ago, averages around 75,000 players nightly, while Baldur’s Gate 3 consistently hits over 100,000.

Cyberpunk 2077’s current success is a testament to the game’s remarkable evolution. What was once a disaster at launch has transformed into one of the most popular and highly praised games, with its DLC now considered the best part of the experience.

The game’s continued growth suggests it has a long future ahead, and CDPR’s decision to develop a sequel alongside The Witcher 4 seems promising.

For those who haven’t yet experienced the transformation, Cyberpunk 2077 is well worth playing now.
