Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Celebrate Powerful Free Mod That Explores Survival and Loss

A new fan-made mod for Cyberpunk 2077 titled People of Night City is gaining attention for its thoughtful and emotional additions to the game.

The free expansion, created by modder CCLordShen, introduces a series of subtle in-game encounters that further deepen the immersive world built by CD Projekt RED.

The mod explores powerful themes such as resilience, loss, and survival in a city known for chewing people up and spitting them out. Instead of adding major quests or flashy battles, “People of Night City” offers quiet, reflective moments—short stories that players may discover as they explore the vast and richly detailed city.

Examples include a grave visited by a superstar, a man on a mission to expose Arasaka, and grim scenes like body parts in a cardboard box. These snapshots of hidden lives offer players a new perspective on Night City and the people who live in its shadows.

According to the mod’s description, the goal is to remind players that not everyone in Night City is a legend—most are just trying to survive.

The expansion includes five new encounters, titled:

  • What’s Left of Lizzy
  • She Never Saw It Coming
  • Crazy Milo
  • She Swung Until He Stopped Moving
  • The Smell of Chlorine

Fans and critics alike have praised the mod for its emotional weight and attention to detail. While not an official update, it complements CD Projekt RED’s ongoing efforts to rebuild the game’s reputation following its troubled 2020 launch. The studio has since transformed Cyberpunk 2077 into one of the most immersive RPGs of its generation.

“People of Night City” is available now for PC players via NexusMods, and serves as another example of how the Cyberpunk 2077 community continues to expand and enrich the game’s universe.
