Cyberpunk 2077 is unlikely to receive a PlayStation 5 Pro patch, according to insights shared by Digital Foundry during their weekly podcast.
The developers at CD Projekt Red reportedly see no significant way to improve the game’s image quality on the upgraded console.
Digital Foundry noted that while the PS5 Pro’s enhanced GPU could improve Dynamic Resolution Scaling, this is already handled through the system’s Game Boost feature.
Efforts to introduce advanced ray tracing features or hardware optimizations would require upgrading the game’s older SDK, a process that could create additional issues and demand extensive engineering work.
Adding features like ray-traced reflections or global illumination might have been possible, but the improvements wouldn’t be substantial enough to justify the effort.
Similarly, support for PSSR (PlayStation Shader Ray Tracing) was deemed unnecessary as it offers minimal benefits over AMD FSR.
Despite the lack of a PS5 Pro patch, CD Projekt Red continues to update Cyberpunk 2077.
A recent update introduced new customization options for the protagonist, V, and additional Photo Mode features.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The Phantom Liberty expansion, however, is exclusive to PC and current-gen consoles.
