CD Projekt Red’s developers are so deep into working on The Witcher 4 that they’re accidentally using its new control scheme when playing other games.
During The Witcher 3’s 10th anniversary event, veteran devs gathered to talk about the game and play it with commentary.
Narrative director Philipp Weber struggled to dodge-roll during gameplay and realized he was pressing the wrong button.
“How do I do a proper roll again, it’s just jump?” Weber asked.
“Since always, it’s A,” replied level design lead Miles Tost.
“Noooo! I’m actually using Witcher 4 controls… spoiler,” Weber admitted.
This funny moment shows how much the team is locked into the new game’s controls while still developing The Witcher 4. The sequel has been in full production since last November, with the team actively building the world, story, and gameplay mechanics.
Meanwhile, CDPR’s co-CEO Michał Nowakowski recently dampened hopes that The Witcher 4 will appear at this year’s Summer Game Fest. Instead, the focus remains on launching Cyberpunk 2077: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Fans eager for more Witcher news will have to wait a bit longer, but it’s clear the team is fully immersed in the next chapter of the series.
