Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World soared to the top of the box office over the Presidents’ Day weekend, raking in an impressive $100 million domestically.
This marks the fourth-biggest Presidents’ Day opening in history, following the record set by Black Panther ($242M), Deadpool ($152M), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120M).
Box Office Breakdown: Captain America Leads, Paddington in Peru Trails
The highly anticipated fourth installment in the Captain America franchise saw strong performance throughout the weekend, starting with $40 million on Friday, followed by $27.5 million on Saturday and $21 million on Sunday, before closing with $11.5 million on Monday.
Meanwhile, Paddington in Peru, the third installment in the beloved Paddington series, debuted in second place with a $16 million four-day total. The animated Dog Man took third place, adding $12.5 million to its $69.5 million total after three weeks.
Romantic drama Heart Eyes, which saw a boost from Valentine’s Day, earned $11 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total to $22.6 million.
