BTS members RM and V have officially completed their mandatory military service, exciting fans around the world. The two were discharged on Tuesday morning, June 10, after serving for 18 months since their enlistment on December 11, 2023.
Stepping out in full military uniform, RM and V were welcomed by cheers from fans and media near their bases. Even though BTS’s agency, HYBE, asked fans not to visit for safety reasons, large crowds still gathered to see them.
V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, was seen holding large flower bouquets. RM, known as Kim Namjoon, brought his saxophone and gave a short musical performance for fans and reporters. RM served in the military band of the 15th Infantry Division, while V served in the Special Duty Team (SDT) under the 2nd Corps Military Police — a role for top-trained soldiers.
Their return marks the start of BTS’s long-awaited reunion. Members Jimin and Jungkook are set to complete their military service today, June 11. Suga, who is serving as a social service worker due to medical reasons, will finish on June 21. Jin, the oldest member, is also expected to rejoin the group soon.
With more members returning, BTS fans, known as ARMY, are now looking forward to the group’s full comeback.
