The U.S. box office is seeing strong growth in 2025, reaching $3.7 billion so far this year. That’s a 23% increase compared to the same time last year. Disney is leading the way, earning $1.1 billion at the domestic box office.
Disney’s biggest hits include Lilo & Stitch, which has made $371.7 million, and Captain America: Brave New World at $200.5 million. Even movies like Thunderbolts ($188.9M) and Snow White ($87.2M) helped boost Disney’s numbers.
Close behind is Warner Bros., with $906.9 million from eight films. Thanks to the success of A Minecraft Movie ($423.8M domestic, $953.5M worldwide), Warner Bros. expects to cross $1 billion before Labor Day. The studio also has F1, Superman, and Weapons coming soon, which should help it reach that mark.
Other studios have also seen growth. Universal stands at $411.4 million, helped by How to Train Your Dragon ($113.8M) and Dog Man ($97.9M). Paramount is next with $283.1 million, with major help from Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Sony has made $193.9 million so far this year, a drop of 55% compared to last year. However, hopes are high for 28 Years Later, which is getting strong reviews. A24 sits at $125.4 million, boosted by Warfare ($26M) and Death of a Unicorn ($21.3M).
The overall box office growth shows that 2025 is shaping up to be one of the strongest years since the pandemic. With major films still on the way this summer, the numbers could go even higher.
