Borderlands 4 has confirmed that one of the fan-favorite features from Borderlands 3 will return: cross-play.

This feature will allow players to team up with friends and other players, regardless of the platform they are on.

Like its predecessor, Borderlands 4 will support online co-op for up to four players and a two-player local split-screen mode (without cross-play).

The game will also run on Unreal Engine 5, the latest iteration of the engine, improving the game’s performance and visual quality compared to Borderlands 3, which used Unreal Engine 4.

While Gearbox hasn’t confirmed an exact release date, Borderlands 4 is expected to launch in 2025 for PC, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

The game will take players to the planet Kairos, where they can choose from four new Vault Hunters and engage in chaotic battles against enemies in an effort to take down the Timekeeper, a ruthless dictator.

With deep skill trees and dynamic movement abilities, players will face off against mechanical monstrosities, bandits, and vicious beasts in this post-apocalyptic world.
