Blake Lively is asking the court to keep sensitive personal and financial information private amid the ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Lively’s attorneys argue that the release of such information could fuel more harassment, citing violent and sexist threats she and her supporters have already received.
Lively, who accuses Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, wants to ensure that certain details, including financial records, health data, film scripts, and personal information, remain confidential and are not shared on platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube. This request comes after the actress and others involved in the case have been targeted with disturbing messages.
In a letter filed with the court, Lively’s legal team revealed that one of her witnesses received a message threatening sexual assault and murder after their texts were included in Baldoni’s amended lawsuit. Lively herself has been subjected to “pornographic trolling” on Instagram, according to her attorneys.
Both Lively and Baldoni are suing each other in federal court in New York. Lively claims that Baldoni harassed her on set and retaliated by launching a smear campaign against her. Baldoni, on the other hand, accuses Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, of damaging his career with false allegations.
Baldoni’s team responded to Lively’s request by acknowledging the threats they have received since Lively’s complaint was filed. They expressed their disapproval of the violent messages directed at anyone involved in the case, stating that no one should be subjected to such treatment.
As the litigation continues, the two sides are also locked in a dispute over the scope of subpoenas and a protective order to govern mutual discovery. Judge Lewis Liman has instructed both parties to submit a proposed protective order by March 11. While Baldoni’s team agrees to the standard protective order, Lively’s team is asking for additional protections to keep sensitive information confidential and limit access to specific details.
