Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are asking the court for extra protection in their ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. The couple is requesting rules to keep sensitive information confidential as the lawsuit continues.
Lively has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, who directed and co-starred with her in It Ends With Us. Baldoni, in response, has accused Lively of extortion and defamation. The lawsuit has led to a series of heated exchanges in public and legal filings.
Lively’s legal team says she, her family, and witnesses in the case have received violent and threatening messages. One witness was allegedly told that his family would be attacked and killed unless he spoke out against Lively. Because of these threats, Lively is asking for a court order to keep some case details private.
The request follows months of public disputes. Baldoni has released text messages and behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, while Lively’s team has accused him of a media campaign to harass and retaliate against her. A gag order has already been filed against Baldoni, but the legal battle continues to escalate.
Baldoni initially sued Lively, Reynolds, and The New York Times after the newspaper published Lively’s harassment claims. He argues that Lively and the newspaper conspired to damage his reputation and take control of the film. In her lawsuit, Lively says Baldoni made unwanted advances, changed scripts to add intimate scenes, and entered her dressing room without permission while she was breastfeeding.
Lively also claims Baldoni hired a PR firm to spread negative sentiment about her online and protect himself from backlash.
The court has set the trial date for March 9, 2026.
