Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has firmly denied new allegations that appeared in recently released Jeffrey Epstein-related documents. The files were made public by the US Department of Justice on January 30, 2026, as part of a large transparency release.
The claims appear in draft emails that Epstein allegedly wrote to himself in July 2013. In those messages, Epstein made unverified accusations about Gates, including claims involving sexual encounters, an alleged sexually transmitted disease, and requests for antibiotics to be given secretly to Gates’ then-wife, Melinda French Gates. The emails also included other graphic and personal assertions.
A spokesperson for Bill Gates strongly rejected the allegations. The spokesperson said the claims are “completely false” and “absurd,” and described them as attempts by Epstein to damage Gates’ reputation after failing to maintain a relationship with him.
The Justice Department stated that the documents contain no evidence supporting the claims against Gates. Officials also stressed that the mention of names in Epstein’s files does not mean those individuals committed crimes or knew about Epstein’s illegal activities.
Gates has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein in the early 2010s and has called the association a “huge mistake.” He has said the meetings were related to philanthropy. Epstein died by suicide in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Bill Gates has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing connected to Epstein. He remains focused on global health and education work through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The latest allegations have drawn public attention but remain unproven and based solely on Epstein’s own writings.
