Squid Game

Squid Game returns on December 26 with its highly anticipated second season, diving deeper into the brutal competition.

Here’s a quick refresher on the key points from season one.

The story follows Seong Gi-hun, a down-and-out gambler who enters the deadly Squid Game, where players compete in life-or-death children’s games for a massive cash prize.

Gi-hun, along with fellow contestants, faces the deadly games, with many dying in the opening “Red Light, Green Light” game.

After initially voting to end the game, they return, preferring the odds in the games over their harsh realities.

Key characters include the Front Man, a masked figure overseeing the games, and his brother, Jun-ho, a cop infiltrating the game.

Jun-ho’s storyline ends with his presumed death, but he may return in season two. Gi-hun survives, but at great cost, losing all his allies.

After winning the game, Gi-hun seeks revenge on the game’s architect, Oh Il-nam, who is revealed to be a participant in the game.

Season one ends with Gi-hun preparing for revenge, setting the stage for Squid Game season two. Gi-hun returns with a new sense of purpose, determined to stop the games for good.

The conflict between Gi-hun and the Front Man will continue into the already confirmed season three, set for release in 2025.
