DICE is bringing back the glory days of the Battlefield franchise — and this time, it’s looking to Bad Company 2 for inspiration.
According to Jeremy Chubb, lead multiplayer producer at DICE, Battlefield 6 draws heavily from the 2010 classic, especially its realistic destruction system and tight, focused map design.
“When you look for excellence in our legacy, Bad Company 2 is where you find it,” said Chubb during a recent interview at a Battlefield 6 event in Los Angeles.
“That game delivered on a level of fidelity and a sort of intimate destructive experience. It was comprehensive, and it felt like the identity of that game more than anything else.”
Chubb confirmed that DICE is working to bring that same feeling back in Battlefield 6. Early playtests already show signs of progress. Maps like Liberation Peak feature destructible buildings, dynamic terrain, and carefully designed chokepoints — all reminiscent of Bad Company 2’s signature gameplay style.
Players can blow holes through walls, collapse entire buildings, and reshape the battlefield in real time. Chubb admitted this kind of destruction was missing from their last game, and they are committed to bringing it back in a big way.
The Battlefield 6 open beta begins this week. Players who registered for Battlefield Labs before July 31 have already secured early access. The full game is scheduled to release on October 10, 2025.
