Baltimore comedian Reggie Carroll has died after being shot in Southaven, Mississippi, on 20 August 2025. He was 52.
Police said they responded to reports of a shooting on Burton Lane, where they found Carroll with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by officers and medics, he later died at Regional One Health hospital in Memphis.
Southaven Police confirmed a male suspect has been arrested and charged with murder. The suspect’s name and possible motive have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
Carroll, known as “The Knockout King of Comedy,” built a career as a stand-up performer, touring nationally and appearing on shows including Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers. At the time of his death, he was touring with comedian Katt Williams.
Tributes have poured in from fans and fellow performers. Oscar-winning actress and comedian Mo’Nique wrote: “Our time together was amazing. Reggie brought laughter and joy.” Baltimore’s Club Mobtown Comedy described him as a “legend” of the city’s comedy scene.
Carroll’s death has left a deep impact on the comedy community, where he was remembered for his sharp wit, stage presence, and ability to bring joy to audiences across the country.
