AT&T has introduced a new low-cost phone plan for customers who are 55 years old or older.
The plan is called AT&T 55 Plus, and it is available across the U.S., not just in Florida like their older senior plan.
The new plan costs $40 per month for one line, or $35 per line for two lines. It includes unlimited talk, text, and data in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Customers also get 10GB of hotspot data per month and video streaming at 720p quality. The plan comes with 5G access, but AT&T has not clearly explained what speeds users can expect.
The AT&T 55 Plus plan also includes free access to ActiveArmor, an app that blocks spam calls.
This new offer is more affordable than AT&T’s previous senior plan, which cost $62 per month and was only available in Florida.
AT&T’s main competitors, T-Mobile and Verizon, also offer senior plans. T-Mobile offers several senior options, some with extra perks like streaming services and price guarantees. Verizon still limits its senior plan to Florida residents.
To get the AT&T 55 Plus plan, customers must verify their age with an ID and sign up for autopay to receive the lowest monthly price.
Later this summer, AT&T will also offer a bundle. It will include two AT&T 55 Plus lines and home internet service with either AT&T Fiber or AT&T Internet Air.
