A$AP Rocky Explains Delay of DON’T BE DUMB Amid Family and Legal Challenges

Rapper A$AP Rocky has revealed that life events, including a recent legal case and becoming a father, have delayed the release of his long-awaited fourth album, DON’T BE DUMB.

In an interview with ELLE, Rocky said the project was slowed by personal responsibilities. He and singer Rihanna share two sons, RZA and Riot Rose, and are now expecting their third child. Rocky said he hopes the new baby will be a girl.

“I don’t want to primarily blame it on my case, but life was lifeing,” he explained. “We don’t plan on having children, but when it happens, you gotta adjust and move with it. I gotta be present for my family, because that’s first.”

Rocky recently faced assault charges from a 2021 fight but was acquitted by a jury in February 2025. He described the album’s delay as “frustrating,” admitting, “It’s just too long for me. It’s been so long.”

There is still no release date for DON’T BE DUMB, though Rocky said he plans to release it soon. In addition to music, he is exploring acting and is set to appear in the upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest, which is due in October.
