Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its foldable iPhone, a device that promises to outshine current foldable phones in both technology and sales.

According to recent reports, Apple’s foldable will likely feature a sturdier display and a less noticeable crease compared to existing models, with screens supplied by Samsung Display under an exclusivity deal.

This makes sense given Samsung’s expertise with foldable tech, especially with its Galaxy Fold series.

Apple’s ambitious sales target for the foldable iPhone is between 15-20 million units annually, a goal that may seem overly optimistic.

While the company has a history of setting high expectations for new products, such as the Apple Vision Pro, not all of these targets have been met. The Vision Pro, for example, struggled to gain traction with enterprise clients, its intended primary market.

Similarly, Samsung’s foldable phones, despite being well-established, have not lived up to their sales potential, with production goals for the next generation reduced to about 5 million units.

The foldable market remains niche, and while Apple’s entry could shift the landscape, it’s uncertain whether the demand for foldables will grow at the rate Apple anticipates.

Production for the foldable iPhone is expected to begin in 2026, with a release likely in the same year.

While Apple could surprise the market with a truly innovative device, it remains to be seen whether it can meet its lofty sales expectations or if it will face the same challenges as its competitors in the foldable space.
