Apple has officially announced the iPhone 17E. The budget phone drops with major upgrades but keeps the same $599 price tag.
The biggest change is storage. The base model now starts at 256GB—double what the iPhone 16E offered. Apple also added a 512GB option for $799, which is $100 cheaper than last year.
MagSafe is finally here. The iPhone 16E got roasted for skipping Apple’s magnetic charging system. The 17E fixes that with full MagSafe support and faster 15W wireless charging.
Inside, the phone runs on Apple’s A19 chip. That’s the same processor in the base iPhone 17, though with one fewer graphics core. The new C1X modem is also on board, promising cellular speeds up to twice as fast as the previous model.
The 6.1-inch display keeps the notch instead of the Dynamic Island. You still get a single 48MP rear camera and a 12MP selfie shooter. Ceramic Shield 2 glass adds better scratch resistance.
Battery life holds at 26 hours of video playback. Wired charging hits 50% in about 30 minutes with a 20W adapter.
The iPhone 17E comes in black, white, and a new soft pink color. Pre-orders open Wednesday, March 4, with full availability starting March 11.
Apple is now updating its budget iPhone annually. The move puts pressure on mid-range Android competitors like Google’s Pixel 10a and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 FE.
