Apple has added a new feature called AutoMix to Apple Music with the release of iOS 26. AutoMix smoothly transitions songs by matching their beats and tempo, creating a seamless listening experience similar to a live DJ set.
This feature replaces the older Crossfade option and works by analyzing each song’s key and speed to find the perfect moment to switch tracks.
AutoMix is currently available in the developer beta of iOS 26, and early users have praised it for making music flow better without interruptions. The feature is designed for Apple Music subscribers and is compatible with many iPhone models, not just the newest ones.
In addition to AutoMix, Apple Music in iOS 26 offers new tools like Lyrics Translation for songs in other languages, and Lyrics Pronunciation to help users sing along accurately.
Users can also pin their favorite playlists to the top of the app and access them quickly with a new widget on the Home and Lock Screens. The public beta of iOS 26 will be available in July, with the full update launching this fall alongside new iPhone models.
