Apple CEO Tim Cook recently shared personal details about his life in an interview on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware.

The interview, recorded during his visit to the UK, covered topics like his daily routine, thoughts on retirement, and memories from his childhood in Alabama.

Retirement Plans

Cook says he doesn’t plan to retire in the traditional sense.

“I don’t see being at home doing nothing and not intellectually stimulated. I think I’ll always want to be pushed,” Cook explained.

He shared that he has been working since he was 11 or 12 years old and doesn’t plan to stop being active.

Morning Routine

Cook starts his day early, often before 5 a.m., to check emails.

“It’s the part of the day that I can control the most,” he said.

His mornings include coffee, cereal, and responding to employees and customers. Cook revealed that he receives 500–600 emails daily, with more on busy days.

Childhood Jobs and Food Preferences

Cook grew up in Alabama and worked several jobs, including flipping burgers at Tasty Freeze for $1.10 an hour. Despite his last name, Cook doesn’t cook much.

“Caffè Macs is so incredible. I have lunch there and take a dinner home during the week. I typically go for the fish,” he said.

Cook’s favorite meal as a child was fried chicken. He also enjoys dark chocolate and Kistler chardonnay.

On Genmoji and Christmas

Cook discussed Apple’s Genmoji feature and shared his love for Christmas, calling London the “ultimate Christmas city.”

“I was working on [a Genmoji] yesterday. I was looking at what Big Ben would look like with a tree out front,” he said.
