Apple has introduced new features for AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2 that make these earbuds more versatile for content creators and everyday users.
The updates include studio-quality audio recording and a camera remote function, enhancing how users capture content and communicate.
Studio-Quality Audio Recording
With the new studio-quality audio recording feature, users such as podcasters, singers, and interviewers can record high-fidelity vocals on the go.
Thanks to the H2 chip, beamforming microphones, and computational audio, AirPods deliver clearer and more natural vocal texture even in noisy environments by using Voice Isolation technology.
This improvement applies across iPhone calls, FaceTime, Voice Memos, dictation in Messages, video conferencing apps like Webex, and compatible third-party camera apps on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Camera Remote Control
The new camera remote feature lets users control the iPhone or iPad camera from a distance using the AirPods. By pressing and holding the AirPods stem while using the Camera app or supported third-party apps, users can take photos or start and stop video recordings without touching their device.
This is especially useful for content creators who want to record themselves performing or capturing group shots without needing to handle the device.
Enhanced Call Quality
Building on Voice Isolation, the update also improves voice clarity during calls. Users will experience crisper and more expressive audio on FaceTime, phone calls, and CallKit-enabled apps.
Availability
These features are available now for developer testing through the Apple Developer Program, with a public beta coming next month. The full update will be released this fall as a free firmware update alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26. The new features require AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with ANC, or AirPods Pro 2 and may vary by region and language.
