While many were focused on Apple’s iOS 26, Google quietly confirmed that Android 16’s final release will arrive later today. This marks the end of the beta testing period, not the final version of Android forever.
Right now, only Pixel devices (Pixel 6 series and newer) will get the update. These phones need to be running Android 15 or the Android 16 beta to receive it. Other phone brands should follow soon since they’ve also been testing Android 16.
However, if you’re running Android 16 QPR 1 Beta 1, you won’t get this update yet. QPR (Quarterly Platform Release) is a separate update path, and it will arrive in the fall with a major Material 3 Expressive UI redesign.
For now, Google fans can enjoy the stable version of Android 16 starting today.
