Google has released the stable Android 15 QPR1 update alongside the December 2024 security patch, bringing new features and a Pixel Feature Drop to a wide range of devices, including the Pixel 6, 7, 8, and the latest 9 series, as well as the Pixel Tablet and Fold.

This update introduces a redesigned Material You Settings experience with a docked pill-shaped search bar and reorganized menus. New features like a “Charging Optimization” menu allow users to limit battery charging to 80%, with clear indicators across the device.

Additionally, the Pixel 9 series benefits from a taller status bar to accommodate larger front-facing cameras.

Themed icons have been tweaked for lighter aesthetics in dark mode and pastel shades in light mode. Pixel Tablet users now enjoy lockscreen widgets in a 3×2 grid, while a new desktop windowing mode enables app resizing and multitasking through Developer Options.

Other enhancements include Predictive Back for Gboard, a new Color correction slider in Accessibility, and an updated animation for Quick Settings Tile adjustments. Google has also added a scalloped loading indicator during long reboots.

The December patch addresses multiple security vulnerabilities, with 14 additional fixes specific to Google devices. Firmware versions for each device are now available via OTA and Factory Images globally.

The update highlights Google’s commitment to refining Android 15 with feature-rich improvements and robust security.
