Just when fans thought the East Coast had secured a win in the recent freestyle feud, Ab-Soul has reignited the fire. The TDE rapper dropped an untitled freestyle track produced by Low The Great and Python P, taking shots at the East and promising the return of Black Hippy.
The back-and-forth originally sparked after Joey Bada$$ threw lyrical shots at Ray Vaughn and others from the West during a recent Red Bull Freestyle. The rap beef quickly escalated, with artists like Daylyt, Reason, and Nyck Caution joining the fray.
While things had cooled down in recent days, Ab-Soul’s latest post on Instagram signaled that the West is not finished. His track features multiple beat switches and serves as a declaration of war, aimed more at DJ Akademiks than Joey directly. Akademiks previously declared Joey the winner of the battle, a statement Ab-Soul clearly didn’t appreciate.
Soul also hinted at something fans have long hoped for: the return of Black Hippy, the supergroup made up of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and himself.
Although he admitted Ray Vaughn lost, Ab-Soul made it clear that the West Coast still has firepower—and he’s ready to remind everyone what TDE stands for.
Whether Joey Bada$$ responds or Kendrick Lamar gets involved remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the battle is far from over.
