The trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, has been released, and fans are excited. The film introduces us to Gulshan, a once-respected basketball coach who is now dealing with the consequences of his reckless behavior.
After a run-in with the police and a court case, Gulshan is ordered to coach a basketball team made up of specially-abled individuals. His rude attitude gets him a fine, setting the stage for a story of change and second chances.
Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is described as a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan’s earlier hit, Taare Zameen Par. However, this film takes a different approach. Instead of the caring and gentle character Aamir played in 2007, Gulshan is brash, offensive, and disconnected from empathy.
The film is based on the Spanish movie Champions and introduces ten new faces as members of Gulshan’s team. It is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and written by Divy Nidhi Sharma.
In an earlier conversation, Aamir mentioned that his role as Gulshan is the opposite of his character in Taare Zameen Par. The trailer shows him mocking the team, using offensive language like “pagal,” but as the story unfolds, it seems Gulshan will go through an emotional journey, learning to see both the team and himself in a new light.
The film also stars Genelia Deshmukh as Gulshan’s love interest, adding a personal angle to his story. Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, and Brijendra Kala round out the cast. With humor, heart, and a strong message of inclusion, Sitaare Zameen Par is shaping up to be a meaningful family film.
Though the movie is named after the team, it is clear that Gulshan’s transformation will be the heart of the story. The film highlights the importance of changing perspectives on specially-abled people and the power of inclusion.
