A24 Y2K Film

A24’s apocalyptic comedy Y2K is set to hit theatres on December 6, bringing a nostalgic and comedic take on the chaos surrounding the turn of the millennium.

The film, directed by Saturday Night Live veteran Kyle Mooney, follows two high school juniors who crash a New Year’s Eve party on the last night of 1999, only to face an unexpected disaster.

The cast includes Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, Julian Dennison, and Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, alongside Alicia Silverstone, Mason Gooding, The Kid Laroi, and others. Mooney co-wrote the screenplay with Evan Winter, and Jonah Hill produced the project.

Set against the backdrop of Y2K hysteria, the film promises a mix of nostalgia and humor, as showcased in its recently released character posters, including one for Durst.

While the trailers exaggerate the night’s events for comedic effect, Y2K offers a playful look back at the uncertainties of that era.
