Diablo 4 players have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Season 5, which is set to release on August 6, 2024.
The new season will introduce a wealth of exciting content, including a new questline, endgame activity, and a massive collection of over 50 new legendary and unique items.
New Questline and Endgame Activity
Season 5 will take players back to Hell for the first time since the main story concluded. The new questline, titled “The Eyes of the Enemy,” will be available on both the Seasonal and Eternal realms.
Completing this questline will unlock access to the Infernal Hordes, a new wave-based survival mode that challenges players to take on increasingly difficult hordes of enemies.
Infernal Hordes
The Infernal Hordes is a roguelike-inspired endgame activity where players must choose between three “Infernal Offers” between waves.
Each offer grants a powerful boon but also a dangerous bane, adding an element of risk and reward as players progress. Surviving long enough will lead to a confrontation with the Fell Council, a callback to Diablo 2.
New Items and Quality-of-Life Updates
Season 5 will introduce a massive collection of over 50 new legendary and unique items, significantly refreshing the loot pool. These new items include mobility and utility options, even providing Necromancers with new ways to move around more quickly.
In addition to the new items, Season 5 will bring several quality-of-life updates, such as changes to endgame bosses and accessibility features. The patch notes for the Season 5 PTR (Public Test Realm) are available, showcasing the full scope of the upcoming changes.
Shorter Season Due to Expansion Release
It’s important to note that Season 5 will be slightly shorter than previous seasons due to the launch of the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred DLC expansion on October 8, 2024. Season 6 will begin alongside the expansion, allowing everyone to start fresh together.
Despite its shorter duration, Season 5 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting updates yet, with a wealth of new content and improvements to keep players engaged until the expansion’s release.
