Apple recently announced the upcoming release of watchOS 11, bringing powerful health and fitness insights, as well as additional personalization and connectivity features.
The new operating system is set to be available for a range of Apple Watch models, but not all devices will be compatible.
Supported Devices
watchOS 11 will be available for the following Apple Watch models:
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
- Apple Watch Ultra
- Apple Watch SE 2nd generation
These devices will be able to take advantage of the new features and capabilities offered by watchOS 11. However, some older models will not be supported, including the Apple Watch Series 4 and the first-generation Apple Watch SE.
New Features
watchOS 11 includes several new features that enhance the user experience:
- Vitals App: Provides detailed insights into users’ health and fitness data.
- Training Load: Offers personalized training recommendations based on users’ fitness levels.
- Customizable Activity Rings: Allows users to tailor their Activity rings to suit their individual needs.
- Intelligent Smart Stack: Offers relevant information at the right time, such as updates on orders or flight gate changes.
- Translate App: Provides real-time translation for 20 supported languages directly on the Apple Watch.
- Double Tap Gesture: Enables users to scroll through apps with a single hand.
- Check In: Allows users to share their workout status with friends and family.
- Photos Face: Offers intelligent customization options for the Photos face on the Apple Watch.
Availability
The developer beta of watchOS 11 is available now for Apple Developer Program members. A public beta will be available next month, and the final version is expected to be released in late September or early October alongside iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15
