Netflix has officially started production on its live-action Assassin’s Creed series.
The show is based on the hugely popular Assassin’s Creed franchise created by Ubisoft, one of the most successful sci-fi gaming series ever made.
Reports say filming has now begun in Italy. Production is expected to continue for several months, which means the show is unlikely to release anytime in 2026.
Instead, the series will most likely arrive on Netflix sometime in 2027 once filming and post-production are finished.
The story will follow the classic conflict between the Assassins and the Templars, a central theme throughout the games. However, Netflix has not yet revealed the exact time period where the show will take place.
Several actors have already joined the cast, including Toby Wallace, Tanzyn Crawford, and Lola Petticrew.
The series is being written for television by David Wiener and Roberto Patino, who will help bring the iconic game world to life on screen.
With filming now underway, fans of the long-running gaming franchise finally have their first real sign that Netflix’s ambitious Assassin’s Creed series is moving forward.
